The windmills early construction date is revealed in the book "Much Wenlock Windmill' by local author Mike Norrey, based on carefully researched records of estate ownership coupled with early inscriptions identified within the structure. The book provides a socio-economic, political and technical review of a country mill in the post-medieval period when estate mills were one of the landlords major assets.
